Refresh yourself

Refresh yourself, not “Twitter”

Electronic devices, internet usage and social networks, are generating a huge amount of data every day. To store it, we ned huge servers distributed around the world needing to be constantly refrigerated to don’t overheat. Because of that, the companies are moving to the coolest places on the Earth to build their server farms. Are we going to melt those places with our data?

This installation, materialise the digital content using an ice block representing the cold places where the servers are being installed and uses a heat lamp that tracks a Twitter hashtag to melt the ice block. When someone post a tweet using that hashtag, the automation increases the lamp temperature causing the ice to melt faster.
